When you think of Whetherspoons - what do you immediately think of? Is it the cheap drinks? The £3.90 double pink gin?
Well, what about the food?
Surprisingly enough, I had visited different Spoons on many occasions to drink with friends before a night out - due to their amazingly affordable drinks, however never eaten at one.
Last summer I took a visit to The Counting House - JD Whetherspoons and the smell of food engulfed the outside seating area, which was packed with day-drinkers and regulars in the area - even the beginning of a hen party started to filter through.

Like I usually do when I'm ordering at a place I've never eaten at before - I went for the burger and chips - classic and reliable. Spoons did not disappoint, although yes - a little basic, it was classic and exactly what I was craving at the time; chips crispy and burger spot on. This and a double pink gin came to £7.35 (absolute bargain). Although my mums chilli topped jacket potato with salad - £4.69 including a drink - did also look very VERY appealing to me (I will definitely be having that next time).
Just like their alcohol - the food is incredibly affordable with 11" pizzas starting out at £5.79 (including a soft drink), freshly battered fish and chips at £7.60 and 8oz sirloin steak at £11.15 (again, including a soft drink).
With the availability to order the food straight to your table through their app your able to pay straight away; cancelling out any getting up and waiting at the bar (perfect if you're a little lazy like me).
Not all Spoons are especially well-presented on the inside and out; however I especially recommend the one in Congleton. Just down the road from Rumba, one of the leading clubs in the area, it is the ideal location to grab a drink and some dinner before heading off out for the night with your friends.
